Revolutionary who sewed the flag of the Grito de Lares, known as 'Brazo de Oro' (Golden Arm)

Mariana Bracetti was a revolutionary leader and a central figure in the Grito de Lares uprising of 1868. Known as "Brazo de Oro" (Golden Arm), she served as the head of the Lares Revolutionary Council and was responsible for the encrypted communications used to plan and execute the revolt. On September 23, 1868, she participated in the insurrection where approximately 800 revolutionaries took the town of Lares and declared Puerto Rican independence.
