Oscar López Rivera is a Puerto Rican independence activist and member of the FALN. He served in the Vietnam War, earning a Bronze Star Medal. In 1981 he was convicted of seditious conspiracy and sentenced to 55 years in federal prison; he served 36 years, much of it in solitary confinement, before President Obama commuted his sentence in January 2017.
